CGMI Banana Project at Marereni:

In order to be able to continue generating fund to support our Organization, we have come up with different projects to raise fund and regenerate it to support community and secure the future of the society as well as create stability in CGMI Fund.

We want to avoid begging everytime for support, we want to raise fund at once and use this Fund to create permanent support, provide income to poor families, create Jobs and reach the primary Objectives of CGMI.

 This Project is very important for it is a pilot project of rehabilitation, for poor societies like Turkana, pokot etc in Kenya who have been for a long time Nomads and have never had opportunity to settle down and engage themselves with farming or Education, even Income has never been a problem for them in the past decade.

 The Project will serve as a training center for such Societies, it shall also provide Jobs and engagement to the Community, and whatever shall be produced shall be implemented to support and creat stability in the Community. In so doing such Societies will have opportunity of employment and have income to support their families, whereby they will be able to settle down and have source to send their children to school.

 This Project is able to provide Job opportunity to 100 Person, which means supporting 100 families, whereby in Kenya an average family contain 7 Persons. That means we are able to support average of 700 to 800 Person for 1 Year. Our production beginn after 8 Months.

 First production is after 8 Month, then after every 3 Months. Which implies after 1 Year, we are able to double our employees as well as our production.

How CGMI is going to implement the Fund and the Resources we have:

Equipments: We need a Lorry with some Spare-parts for transportation and farm run, A tractor with farm tools for farm preperation and cultivation, Caterpillar with tools for routes and road amending on the farm. Three (3) Trailers, Three (3) Tractorslashers, Three (3) Planters, Three (3) Caltivators Twenty (20) Hoes (Jembes), Twenty (20) Slashers ( Pangas), Six (6) Watertanks;

A truck @ 30 000 euro
A tractor and farm tools @ 35 000 euro
A catapillers @ 40 000 euro - 6 Water tanks @ 3 000 euro

Fertilizer: We need 3 types of fertilizers; for Farm preperation , for planting and for seasoning. - 3 Types of Fertilizer @ 5 000 euro.

Bannana seeds: According to the research carried in Kenya, an Acre needs 670 Banana seeds of Williams hybrid. Which means for 3 Acres we will need 670 x 3 ( 2010 Banana seeds). - Every Seed cost 10 eur, for 2010 Seeds will be @ 20 100 euro.

Land: 3 Acres; We have 12 Acres, but our first project will be base on 3 Acres. After first production shall then be extend to 6 Acres and then progressively.

Water supply: We dig a Borehole (Well) for permanent water supply and buy water Pump; Farm irrigation diesel water pump (FIDWP) and alternative of 3in Honda gasoline engine water pump and acessories for irrigation on the farm.

Digging will cost 3 000 euro -
A Farm irrigation diesel water pump (FIDWP) @ 20 000 euro
A 3in Honda gasoline engine water pump @ 3 000 euro

Labour: At the beginning we shall have a capacity of employing 50 and 100 Employees, and the number shall raise after our first production to three times.

50 to 100 Employees @ 150 eur Employee/mth for 1 yr = 90 000 euro

Insurance: Coverage for employee Accident, Machinery and tools breakdown, or plants diverstication by bad seasons coverage.

A year package coverage of 5 000 euro

Production:

We are expecting 3 potential product per Seed after 8 month, first production shall be after eight (8) month, then every three month, whereby first havest shall produce 2 010 Banana Bunches (4 020 Boxes of Bananas), mean weight of every Banana bunch is 25.8 to 28.5 Kg. Which means 2 010 x 25.8 = 51 858 Kg. There will be some havesting in between before the three month interval.

1 Kg Banana cost 5 eur - Therefore 51 858 Kg shall be 259 290 euro.

That implies after two Years, this Farm shall be potential source of Fund and support primary Objectives of Cgmi. And all this is because of your contribution.

Summary the Project :

We are providing a managing Council which will directly monitor and manage the running of farming in order to enhance a successful & sufficient production.
In order the Project to be selfreliant in the future, whatever will be produced shall be sold locally and internationally in order to provide financial support, maintain Job orpptunities and carter for Cgmi primary Objectives.
Apart from Education, we have also laid a side one Million Kenyanshillings (100,000 Kshs) to finance the farming Project.
Every Three months after receiving the Fund, we shall be producings a public report to all our Donors to show them how we are progressing. Also any Donor shall be allowed to visit and view the progress of the project, if they may be interrested.
Your contribution, however small, helps to eraticate poverty, support poor children to get Education, provide food for those who don’t have, create employment and income as well as security and harmony among families and in so doing reduces crimes ….. etc.
The a mount needed in order to make this Project a success is 254 100 Euro. Whereby Children of great mission International has already set apart 100,000 Kshs (1, 100 Euro). Therefore we are still raising 253 000 Euro.

We therein request all well Wishers, Donors, Sponsors and any other Organs that are willing to support this Banana Project, to send their Pledges or Donation in the following accounts of Cgmi. Please note that you are also allowed to donate any of the mentioned Machinery or Equipment.
